Funded by Historic England and run by community-driven art and design organisation Kinetika, ‘Collecting Dreams, Shifting Futures’ is a story-gathering project uniting communities in Great Yarmouth, Harwich and Orford Ness.

With a special emphasis on coastal heritage, the project centres on inclusivity and working with diverse local communities.

Collecting Dreams, Shifting Futures is part of the national Beach of Dreams 2025 project.

Beach of Dreams is taking place 1 May – 1 June 2025. It is a UK-wide coastal arts festival exploring the unique heritage, cultures, and futures of our coastlines in the face of the climate emergency. Find out more at beachofdreams.org.

A selection of short films will be screened including:

Dreamers – A film by Fotis Begklis about Beach of Dreams 2021

The film was commissioned by Kinetika and Essex Cultural Diversity Project, following the walkers on their journey across diverse terrains and coastlines. Hear form participants as they reflect on their personal connections to their coastline and their hopes for the future of our beaches.

Collecting Dreams, Shifting Futures – Harwich by Marley Karazimba

and

The silent scream of hares – Orford Ness by Lucia Barbagallo

These films were created for the Collecting Dreams, Shifting Futures project where participants were invited to explore and share stories of the unique coastal heritage of Harwich and Orford Ness.
