Rosemary became a Second World War artist, depicting the war at home and abroad, and later a renowned designer of stained-glass windows. In this talk, Dr Catherine Pearson will explore her life and work and discuss the Rutherford Project, which has conserved Rosemary’s artworks at Broomfield Church in Essex.
Catherine Pearson read history at King’s College, London and completed her MA and PhD at University College London. Her publications include: E.J. Rudsdale’s Journals of Wartime Colchester and Museums in the Second World War: Curators, Culture and Change. She works at Anglia Ruskin University.
This talk is programmed as part of the Shifting Perspectives: Exploring Art Together exhibition at Chelmsford Museum in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Society. The exhibition shines a light on art works by women artists from the museum’s collections, chosen by people living with dementia following a series of workshops.
