During the event Nicolas reads excerpts from his book and discusses the one book that made him fall in love with reading and writing, the huge influence of music and song lyrics, how the story of England is Mine came to be, the surprising discoveries he made about the subject matter when writing the book, his next novel.
Nicolas also takes questions from the audience and talks about growing up in Essex, how the identity of Essex has changed, and how lucky we are to have venues like Hot Box.
